May 13, 2003

The following are excerpts from a May 12, 2003 Jerusalem Post OpEd by Dr. Uzi Landau, Israel’s Minister Overseeing Security Services and US-Israel Strategic Relations:

  1. Who is the Real Abu-Mazen? He is the author of PLO’s Phased Plan for the destruction of Israel [in stages]. He is also a Holocaust denier. In his book, The Secret Relationship Between Zionism and Nazism, he claimed that the Zionist movement had an interest to inflate the number of Holocaust victims. In fact, wrote Abu-Mazen: ‘Only 890,000 Jews were murdered by the Nazis, because there were no gas chambers.’”

  2. He consistently supports murdering Jews in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, where ‘it is beneficial’ [according to Abu-Mazen]... Abu-Mazen’s opposition to terrorism relates to the harm it has done to the Palestinian cause [rather than to the immorality of terrorism].”

  3. “[DAHLAN] ordered the blowing up of a school bus in Kfar Darom...Abu-Mazen insists on appointing Dahlan as Minister of Domestic Security... [Abu-Mazen] supports the return of the 1948 refugees [a code word for Israel’s destruction]. With his polished style, Abu-Mazen serves as a Trojan Horse, intended to mislead Americans into thinking that a new prime minister means a new Palestinian Authority.”

  4. President Bush should not meet Abu-Mazen, just as he refused to meet Saddam Hussein’s representatives... instead of punishing the PA for its blatant violations of the Oslo Accords...the Road Map grants the Palestinians unprecedented gains... Since 9/11, Americans have viewed terrorism as a great danger to Western civilization. President George W. Bush declared war on countries that support terrorism until it is uprooted... Uprooting evil is a precondition to negotiation. Abu-Mazen simply does not meet Bush’s own criteria... The Palestinian leadership will be new and different...by removing the inciting textbooks that have educated a generation of homicide bombers...”

  5. Why is America Appeasing the Europeans, who acted to thwart [the war on Iraq], and appeasing the Palestinians, Saddam’s allies, while badly hurting its own ally, Israel?!... Is it possible that the Palestinians, who gave away candies on the streets on 9/11 [rejoicing anti-US terror], are now getting a candy from the US?! Won’t such a contradictory message deal a serious blow to the credibility of American policy and its determination to fight terrorism?!”
