Some observers tend to personalize the
root cause of Palestinian terrorism, focusing on Arafat, rather than at the
PLO/PA system as a whole. They contend that
other PLO leaders, such as Dr. Sari Nusseibeh, head of PLO Jerusalem
operations and President of Al Quds University, are men of peace. Really?!
-
WRITING TO SADDAM HUSSEIN (Jan.
21, 2001), Nusseibeh stated: “In the name of Al-Quds University...allow me
to express the admiration of the Palestinians for your honorable
positions...You represent the vanguard of
steadfastness...We, in Jerusalem, are inspired by you...We are proud to
belong to a nation, which considers you a symbol of resistance and a symbol
of its greatness...We are certain of your support...”
-
DURING THE 1991 GULF WAR,
Nusseibeh was arrested for collaborating with Saddam, attempting to improve
the accuracy of Saddam's Scud missiles fired
at Israel. Israel's dovish daily, Ha’aretz, reported (Jan. 1991)
that Nusseibeh also transferred hundreds of thousand dollars to Palestinian
terrorists, and quoted the President of the Jerusalem County Court:
"Nusseibeh's arrest was on national security grounds."
-
NUSSEIBEH's POSITION ON HOMICIDE
BOMBING was exposed on Al Jazirah TV (June 29, 2002), responding to Umm
Nidal, a proud mother of a homicide bomber: "Hats off to Umm Nidal, and to
any warrior of Palestinian Jihad...Listening
to Umm Nidal, I recall the Qur'anic verse stating that Paradise is at the
feet of mothers...I do not wish to mix politics with the respect felt by
each Palestinian toward Jihad warriors..."
-
NUSSEIBEH's PHILOSOPHY ON THE
DISMANTLING OF ISRAEL (his own Sept. 15, 2000 document): The "Algeria
Model", calling for the destruction of Israel, has portrayed Arabs as
aggressors. Therefore, it should be replaced
by the "South African Model", featuring integration as a means to dismantle
the Jewish State. The "South African Model" would not entail a ceasefire,
and would eventually transform Israel from a Jewish state to a Palestinian
democratic secular state, stretching from the Jordan River to the
Mediterranean and absorbing millions of Palestinian refugees.
-
NUSSEIBEH's POSITION ON THE "RETURN
OF THE 1948 REFUGEES" (euphemism for the annihilation of Israel) per his
own March 6, 2002 news release: The implementation of UN Resolution 194
(Dec. 11, 1948) mandates Israel to pay full
compensation to the Palestinian refugees and to discuss the return of those
wishing to do so.
-
ABUSING THE PRIVILEGES OF A
PRESIDENT OF A UNIVERSITY, Nusseibeh has transformed Al Quds University
into the Jerusalem headquarters of the PLO/PA, heralding Saddam, inciting
against Israel, promoting illegal
construction and supporting families of Palestinian terrorists.
-
The support of Nusseibeh, and other
PLO/PA leaders who pose as men of peace, has precluded the emergence of an
alternative peaceful Palestinian leadership.
