Thy
Destroyers and
They that Made Thee Waste
Shall Go Forth of Thee
(Isaiah 49:17)
Editorial
The expulsion of Jews from their land by
Jews is a contemptible act, worse than exile imposed by an enemy. Exile
resulting from destruction is a national tragedy, but it does not sever the
exile’s connection with his homeland. Volitional exile is an admission of the
failure of Zionism and affixes a mark of Cain to the country’s leadership. The
settlers in Judea, Samaria and Gaza are the true vanguard of the entire Jewish
people, not only of the Jewish state. Their forced expulsion from their homes is
the first, decisive step on the path to the destruction of the homeland.
The claim that the relinquishment of the
Gaza Strip to the worst of Israel’s enemies since Nazism will lead to an
abatement of the Arab jihad is immeasurably more severe than the
widespread claim at the time that ceding the Sudetenland to Hitler would satisfy
him and prevent the war in Europe. There are many reasons for this distinction,
however the two main ones are: As opposed to Europe in November 1938, Israel is
at war; and in contrast to the foreign powers, which ceded lands belonging to a
far-away country to Hitler – Sharon is relinquishing the cradle of the Hebrew
nation to the enemy. Thus, any analogy between Sharon and Messrs. Chamberlain
and Deladier is a stinging affront to the two, the British and the French,
statesmen.
Sharon’s proposal to provide Egypt with
military control over Gaza dovetails nicely with Cairo’s preparations for war
with Israel, as “Egypt is Israel’s most dangerous enemy” (to quote Matan Vilna’i
the then Deputy Chief of the General Staff). The PLO is an Egyptian terrorist
organization under the guidance of military intelligence, by means of which
Cairo is conducting a war of low intensity against Israel. That, which is
referred to as “arms smuggling from Egypt” is nothing other than supplying
weapons to the Arab terrorist organizations. Witness the Karine-A episode and
the arms shipment apprehended in Turkey in early June on its way to Egypt.
Sharon’s claim that he received President
Bush’s blessing for this course of action is baseless, another blatant act of
deceit, so common on the Prime Minister’s agenda. The following day, the
President disavowed that, which he had ostensibly promised in a press conference
the day before. Apparently Sharon does not understand that as opposed to he
himself, the President in Washington is not just another Middle Eastern
dictator, and promotion of Arab terrorism by means of expulsion of Jews is
inconsistent with American interests.

Destruction of the settlements in the Gaza
Strip will accelerate the establishment of a Palestinian state, with Sharon’s
sweeping support. An Arab terrorist state – the spearhead of the Arab world on
the outskirts of Tel Aviv – is the long range Arab program for the liquidation
of the State of Israel. The sovereign entity, which will be established, will
immediately gain the military backing of the Arab league, headed by Egypt. Thus,
any Israeli attempt to attack targets in the Gaza Strip or Samaria in response
to a terrorist act such as the firing of rockets, will be considered a
declaration of war against all Arab countries.
Israel’s political maneuverability at
present is virtually non-existent. Israel is trampled by the United Nations on a
regular basis, and if the question of the establishment of the Jewish state were
raised today – it would have no chance at all of ratification. Europeans list
Israel at the top of the list of factors threatening world peace; the Muslim
world is blatantly and openly preparing a second Holocaust. Thus, any withdrawal
from the few territorial and conceptual assets still remaining in Israeli hands
after the abandonment of Sinai and the destruction of settlements – the most
severe strategic failure in its brief history, for which Sharon was responsible
– will deteriorate its situation considerably, will further whet the appetite of
the Arab enemy, while concomitantly restricting Israel’s freedom of action.
And last but certainly not least, it is
advisable that someone in Sharon’s office inform him that use of the phrase “in
2005 not even one Jew will remain in Gaza”, i.e. Gaza will be Judenrein,
to this point had been employed exclusively by the Nazis, their allies and their
Arab successors.
Although the trend toward Fascism in the
Israeli Government began during the term of Ehud Barak, in light of Sharon’s
tyrannical reign, Mussolini would blush. Not that the intention is to compare
Sharon and Il Duce; Mussolini, as opposed to Sharon, worked to further
his country’s interests.
